Here is one of my all time favourite dishes - the Clam Chowder. It needs no further introduction, as people who visited San Francisco must have tried it before. I tried it, and I loved it, and this is how you can make it at home.
Servings: 6
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped celery
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch pieces (or as many potatoes as your preferred
- 2 (6.5 ounce) cans minced clams
- 1 teaspoon salt, adjust to suit your own taste
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, adjust to suit your own taste
- Crackers or bread (optional)
Cooking Instructions:
- In large pan, melt butter and cook onion and celery until soft. Add flour, salt and pepper, stirring constantly until well blended. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until sauce comes to a boil and thickens.
